The electronic displays conference will once again take place this year as part of embedded world. The new 10.1’ Blanview TFT COM101H9M36 from Toppan/Ortustech is now available and offers excellent readability even in direct sunlight thanks to its Blanview technology. The wide format display impresses with a brightness of 1000 cd/m² and a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Blanview technology not only enables excellent visibility in bright ambient light, but also contributes to reduced heat generation. With a wide viewing angle and low power consumption, it is the ideal choice for outdoor applications and mobile, battery-powered devices. The TFT is designed for a temperature range of -30°C to +80°C and guarantees long-term availability of five years.

A successful example of the use of our 4.3" easyTOUCH display is in a dishwasher project. The display, which was developed for various applications, has proven itself in this special application thanks to its high reliability and robustness.

With our new Smart Interface Board (SIB), we are expanding the control and monitoring options for monitors. In addition to the existing control options such as on-screen display, DDC/CI, RS232 and infrared remote control, our SIB now enables the control and monitoring of monitors via Ethernet (SNMP and Web GUI). With the SIB you can make remote settings such as brightness, contrast and video source as well as read out maintenance parameters such as temperature and operating hours. External sensors and devices can be controlled via the SPI and I²C interfaces, e.g. for alarms on airport monitors. Thanks to its compact design (90x45 mm), the SIB can be easily integrated into monitors, and a WiFi option is planned for applications without Ethernet.

We are expanding our range with the new OSM-S (small) modules from F&S, which impress with their compact design and high performance. In addition to the energy-saving i.MX8ULP and i.MX8 Mini and the powerful i.MX93, we will also be offering the new i.MX91 on OSM until the end of the year. These 30x30 mm² modules make it possible to realise high-performance systems in an extremely small installation space. On Friday, 30 August 2024, the 3rd Kärwelauf took place in Weikersheim, and this year DATA MODUL GmbH once again took part with a dedicated team of 12 runners. Our colleagues performed excellently on the 5 and 10 kilometre courses. New this year was the 5-kilometre walking route, which enabled participants of all fitness levels to take part in sporting activities. Thanks to the active support of the volunteers, the event was an all-round success.

The routes led through the picturesque old town of Weikersheim and offered a great running experience. The proceeds from the Kärwelauf 2024 will go to the children's holiday trips in Weikersheim, which means that participation in this event also made a significant charitable contribution.

We would like to thank all participants for their commitment and are already looking forward to the next Kärwelauf!

On 17 July 2024, the employees of DATA MODUL GmbH and AG demonstrated their athletic prowess at two parallel running events.

DATA MODUL GmbH was represented at the Igersheim company run with a group of 23 participants. The 5.1 kilometre course through Igersheim was successfully completed by 15 runners and 7 walkers. Particularly noteworthy was the participation of a 67-year-old, now retired colleague, who continues to participate enthusiastically in our running events even in retirement.

At the same time, 15 DATA MODUL AG employees took on the challenge of the Munich B2Run. The 5 kilometre course started in the Olympic Park and ended for all runners with a finish in the historic Olympic Stadium. Particularly pleasing: DATA MODUL took part in the B2Run as a charity starter and donated €5.00 to the DKMS with every run to support the fight against blood cancer.

We would like to thank all participants for their outstanding commitment and look forward to future sporting challenges.

One product that we have realised according to a customer's requirements is a 19" stretched TFT display, especially for use in steam cookers. Compared to the 7" displays more commonly used in domestic appliances, our 19" display offers three times the active screen area, an impressive resolution of 1920x360 pixels and a contrast ratio of 1200:1. We are pleased to introduce the new 7" TFT display from Toppan/Ortustech, which is based on the advanced Blanview-F technology and the proven Blanview technology. The COM79H7M53FLC is characterised by a contrast ratio of 1000:1, a brightness of 600 cd/m² and a wide viewing angle of 88° from all directions. With an LED backlight lifetime of 50,000 hours and a vibration resistance of up to 6.8G, it is ideal for various outdoor industrial applications, including agriculture, e-mobility, mobile and battery-powered devices as well as heavy-duty applications.

DATA MODUL at the Münchner-Kindl-Lauf 2024

Last Saturday, we showed our sporting commitment and combined our involvement with a good cause: With our ambitious colleagues, we took to the starting line of the 17th Münchner-Kindl-Lauf! The starting signal was given at the idyllic Seestadl in Munich's English Garden, where we took part in a 5 or 10 kilometre run.

Equipped with DATA MODUL sports outfits and a portion of ambition, our athletic commitment went beyond pure sporting competition: each registration supported the Munich Outpatient Children's Hospice by donating part of the registration fee to the institution, which cares for families with a terminally or seriously ill child or parent. We already made a Christmas donation to this organisation last year, and we are delighted that our running fever is also doing something good.

A big thank you to everyone who took part! We are already looking forward to the next event together!

We are pleased to introduce our new 28.5 inch A2 colour e-paper display from Sharp. This innovative display offers over 65,000 colours thanks to the latest Spectra6 technology from E Ink. Its resolution of 3060 x 2160 pixels and extended temperature range of 0° to 50°C make it ideal for retail, indoor signage, digital out-of-home advertisements (DOOH), restaurant displays and smart city applications.

The slim and lightweight design of the Sharp A2 colour e-paper display makes it the perfect choice for customers looking for scalable and customisable solutions. The narrow bezel allows for seamless multiple displays. The e-paper technology also makes it extremely energy efficient, as power is only required when changing images.
The Sharp A2 colour e-paper display is available immediately and is expected to go into series production in the middle of the year. Further products in poster size (A1: 40.5 inches and A0: 57.3 inches) are planned for the future.

We are pleased to introduce an extended range of small e-paper displays from 1.54 inches from DKE. These are now available in a 4-colour version (black/white/red/yellow) as standard, offering improved flexibility in the colour design of content. The additional combination of red and yellow opens up new possibilities for displaying information in applications where small e-paper displays are typically used, such as electronic shelf labelling.

The displays offer an extremely wide viewing angle, a temperature range of 0° to +40°C and a high DPI rate. As e-paper displays only require power to change the image, they are extremely energy-efficient. Thanks to their reflective properties and always-on mode, the image content always remains clearly legible.

We are pleased to announce the successful development of a customised 3.5-inch Human Machine Interface (HMI) unit that we developed specifically for a coffee machine manufacturer. The development was carried out in close co-operation with the customer, taking into account specific design requirements and cost considerations.

The HMI unit is based on a cost-efficient STM32 (Cortex M7) based embedded board and offers an intuitive user interface that ensures seamless integration into existing systems. The high-resolution 3.5-inch TFT display with IPS Wide View Technology guarantees brilliant colours and a brightness of 700cd. The black panel effect is enhanced by the applied full bonding process, which ensures an appealing aesthetic.

This project underlines our expertise in the development of customised solutions for kitchen appliances such as coffee machines and at the same time demonstrates the successful combination of technical requirements and economic efficiency to create innovative products of the highest quality.

We will be presenting two exciting keynotes at this year's electronic displays conference in Nuremberg.

On 10 April from 2:55 to 3:15pm, Andreas Huber, Head of Business Development from DATA MODUL, will talk about the advantages of e-Paper displays, especially outdoors, in his keynote "e-Paper for Outdoor Usage" and will address challenges such as increased temperatures, UV resistance and lighting, with a special focus on the optical bonding of the frontlight.

On 11 April, Claus Vogt, Head of Products & Markets - Display from DATA MODUL, will present the keynote "Transparent Displays" from 3:05 to 3:25pm. This will cover the technological differences compared to classic OLED displays, advantages and disadvantages as well as application scenarios for transparent displays in HMIs, monitors or in the digital signage market.

The electronic displays conference takes place from 10 to 11 April and offers an excellent platform for professional exchange on the latest developments in display technology.

Based on this conviction, we organize also corporate volunteering projects that bring together employees from different departments. One example is our partnership with Bergwald e.V., where we recently made a small contribution to climate adaptation of local forest ecosystems for the second time since 2022 by planting 1,000 trees this time thanks to the dedicated efforts of 20 employees from the Weikersheim site.

Even under extreme conditions, with an operating temperature range of -20 to +70°C, it delivers reliable performance. For even more demanding requirements, the PH128800T007-ZFC02 model offers a brightness of 800 nits and an extended operating temperature range of -30 to +80°C.
